The Dotty Nicholas Sickle Cell Scholarship Banquet was held on April 29th of this year at the prestigious Park View Manor, 55 Barber Green Road, North York.

It was an evening filled with music, speeches, and laughter, co-hosted by the always entertaining Sheldon Neil and Richard Newman.

There were guests such as the Hon. Gary Anadasangaree, MPP of Scarborough Rouge Park; the Consul General of Jamaica, Lloyd Wilks; Senior Pastor of the Rhema Christian Ministries, Pastor Orim Meikle and the Rhema congregation; doctors and nurses from the Scarborough Rouge Hospital (Centenary Site); Pastor Marcelle James and the Metro Church of God congregation; and friends and relatives.

Beyond Sound Drumming Corp rocked the audience with drumming that pierced the hearts and souls of those present. Trailblazer Pastor Marcelle James from the Metro Church of God was the keynote speaker for the evening. She had the audience spellbound when she reiterated the history of her faith and resilience as she journeyed through the years with her son who had sickle cell disease.

Songbird Londa Larmond filled the air with her melodious voice as she serenaded the couples. Deddie Nichols choreographed her dancing art so beautifully to the song of Deborah Joy Winans, “The Master’s Calling.”

The evening was a tremendous success where four beautiful young ladies were awarded scholarships to universities and colleges.
