Our Mission & Vision

Empowering for Success

At the Dotty Nicholas Sickle Cell Scholarship Fund Association, we are committed to empowering individuals with sickle cell disease to achieve academic success and improve their quality of life through targeted financial support and educational resources.

Let Them Know Someone Cares

Our vision is to create a supportive community where young adults with sickle cell disease know they are not alone in their journey. We strive to be a beacon of hope and support, demonstrating that someone truly cares about their educational pursuits and overall wellbeing.

Our Purpose

We advance education by providing publicly available scholarships to young adults with sickle cell disease to be used for post-secondary education, helping alleviate the financial burden that can exacerbate health challenges.

Our organization is committed to advancing education by providing instructional seminars and information sessions focused on lifestyle choices in sickle cell disease, thereby improving the quality of life of those affected by sickle cell disease in the community.

We offer specialized remedial reading programs specifically designed for those affected with sickle cell disease in the community, addressing educational gaps that may result from health-related school absences.

The Dotty Nicholas Sickle Cell Scholarship Fund Association

The Dotty Nicholas Sickle Cell Scholarship was established in March 2013 at Dotty Nicholas’ birthday celebration. The first scholarship was proudly awarded in May 2013 at the Sickle Cell Awareness Group of Ontario Hope Gala to Ms. Tasha.
