This scholarship is open to all Canadian citizens and permanent residents living with Sickle Cell Disease. The applicant must be registered or enrolled in a recognized degree, diploma or certificate program in Canada.
Applicants will only be awarded if they meet the following conditions:-
1. Have Sick Cell Disease
2. Have Canadian citizenship or permanent residence status.
3. Provide transcript from a tertiary or secondary educational institution you have attended.
4. Provide 2 letters of recommendation. One from your most recent institution of learning and the other from a reputable business or community organization that you are affiliated with.
5. Record of voluntary service in the community.
6. Submit a 1000 word essay describing how the funding will help you to achieve your goals in life.
7. Commit to serve as a voluntary member of the Dotty Nicholas Sickle Cell Scholarship organization for a minimum of 2 years.
8. Consent for your picture and excerpt to be used on the Dotty Nicholas Sickle Cell Website. Pictures taken at the Scholarship Award events that may include family members and supporters can be used on the website and other publications for public awareness and education purposes about Sickle Cell Disease. The scholarship may vary according to available funds. To be considered eligible for this scholarship, your application must be submitted by April 30th, of the year you plan to begin your course of study to info@dnscscholarship.com
