Moments of Inspiration

A collection of thoughts, poems and songs by Elder Dotty Nicholas

Augustina Bempong (2015 Award Recepient)

My name is Augustina Bempong and I am 18 years old. From the tender age of three months old I have suffered from sickle cell anemia. Due to having this illness I have had many different life experiences that have helped me become the person that I am today. These experiences have made me a stronger person and have given me the ability to help people in situations like mine. Though having sickle cell has caused a few setbacks in my life it has also encouraged me to try harder at things that seem unreachable. In September of this year I will begin post-secondary endeavours at York University. I will be majoring in business and society, a program which focuses on how to run a business with multiple different demographics. Throughout my life I have been very passionate about starting a business and starting a career that will help me reach this goal. Once I am done with my education, I plan to work in human resources and eventually start my own business.

 With thanks

 Augustina
