Augustina is currently enrolled as a student at York University and is majoring in Human Resources Management. As of September 2018 she will be entering her fourth year and has plans to further her education after her undergraduate is complete. She currently holds a part time position at MAC Cosmetics as a makeup artist. Cosmetics is something she is passionate about and hopes to incorporate it into her career in the future. Although she has dealt with the many trials of being a Sickle Cell patient throughout her life, she has been able to keep a good academic standing and create a healthy balance between school, work, and her social life. The Dotty Nicholas Scholarship has truly done a lot for the Sickle Cell community by creating a safe space for people to with Sickle Cell to be supported and appreciated for their hard work. The organization also does a lot for the Black community as it is empowers and encourages black youth to play leading roles in the community by spreading information about Sickle Cell and how vital it is for the world to know what the disease is. The Dotty Nichols Scholarship is an avenue that allows the public to assist with those who are suffering with the illness. For Augustina, the organization has made a great help with her feeling supported and appreciated for the efforts she puts into her education while still living with Sickle Cell. It has also been a great help to her financially by covering the costs of school related expenses. She is excited for what the organization has done for her and others and prays that this will be able to continue helping people just like herself.
