My name is Gail Lywood, I am currently working towards becoming a Registered Nurse at the University of Western Ontario.
I am in my second year at the Western –Fanshawe Nursing Program .I have achieved high Academic standing and learned many valuable skills.
Going to Western University has allowed me to reach outside of my comfort zone, and learned how to cope with Sickle Cell independently of my family, and primary Healthcare Providers.
I am a proud repeat recipient of the Dotty Nicholas Sickle Cell Scholarship, which is applied to my tuition, and relieved some of the financial stress I would have to encounter. As a registered nurse I intend to give back to my community that plays a big part in keeping me health and give me hope. The Dotty Nicholas Sickle Cell Scholarship gave me Capacity .and capability to succeed.
